Manager relations in deskbird ensure approval workflows for hybrid policies function seamlessly. They enable manager-based validations for bookings, hybrid work plans, and policy approvals.
1. What is a Manager Relation?
A Manager Relation in deskbird is a 1-to-1 link between a user and their manager. It functions independently of groups and ensures that approvals (e.g., for policy confirmation) are routed to the correct manager.
Example: If three groups are assigned to a policy and a user has a manager relation set, the approval request will be sent directly to the assigned manager — regardless of the group.
2. Ways to set up Manager Relations
SCIM (Azure or Okta)
- Azure: Manager relations are synced via SCIM v2 only (not supported in SCIM v1).
- See: SCIM 2.0 setup guide for Entra ID
-
Okta: Requires a custom attribute (e.g.,
manager) to be created and mapped in SCIM configuration. Add custom attributes
