General information about the beta-test
We are delighted to announce the open beta phase for the new functionality of our iOS and Android app, enabling employees to automatically check-in to their desk and parking spot bookings when arriving at the office.Â
Employees therefore no longer run the risk of their bookings being canceled due to missing the check-in when they are present at the office.
Overall requirements for using the functionality
- A minimum of simple check-in needs to be activated for the office.
- The functionality can be activated per office and is only usable when employees have the latest version of the deskbird app installed on their Apple or Android phones.
- In addition, every employee needs to grant access to their phone location for the deskbird app, if they want to make use of this functionality.
- Of course, the usage of the feature is optional and always needs confirmation from the employee itself.
Additional information on data usage
We are not storing or sharing the location data of employees with anyone at any time.
We are only receiving the information that an employee has entered the radius of 100 meters of a respective office from the Apple and Android native operating systems. This will trigger the check-in action of desks and parking spot bookings of the current day.
- Geofencing is done by the OS using the geofencing API provided by Apple and Android, therefore we do not process any location data
- The OS handles the full process of entering and exiting regions and sends this information to the deskbird mobile app
Employees can, at any time, deny location permission which will automatically deactivate the functionality for them.
How can I apply to participate in this beta test?
You can contact us at support@deskbird.com or reach out to your Customer Success Manager. Please inform us for which of your offices you would like to participate.
Please be aware that the following is a requirement for participation:
- You need to be a Global Admin or Office Admin to request participation in the beta test.
- You are expected to share feedback during the beta phase, so please only apply if you have enough capacity to share feedback with us.
- From now on, you can test the functionality on Apple and Android phones.
How can employees activate the functionality for themselves?
Once you requested and we confirmed the activation of the automatic check-in for at least one office within your deskbird account, employees need to make sure that they download the latest app version in their App- or Google Play store.
- When the feature is activated for a minimum of one office in your company, employees will see the option of "Automatic check-in" in their personal settings in the deskbird mobile app.
- Employees will need to activate the feature.
- Employees will need to grant the location permission for the deskbird app.
- We highly recommend to activate check-in push notification to also receive a success message when you are automatically checked-in.
- Please be aware that Apple and Android phones have a slightly different behaviour for that.
Please consider that employees will need to grant the type of location access "Always" that the functionality works
Employees need to navigate to the phone settings where to grant location permissions for "Always"

How can you give feedback?
You have two options:
- Share your feedback within a few minutes here.
- We will also create an in-app survey for all users who have activated the feature. They will see the in-app feedback surveys 1-2 weeks after activation of the feature.
