1. Connect your deskbird account in Slack
⚠️ Before you can use deskbird in Slack, a Slack admin must first install the deskbird app for your workspace. Once that is done, follow the steps below to connect your own account.
- Open Slack and find the deskbird app in your workspace's app list.
- Go to the Home tab of the deskbird app.
- Click Log in and complete the authentication flow.
After logging in, deskbird is connected to your Slack account and you are ready to use all features.
2. Plan your work week from Slack
If your company uses deskbird's scheduling feature, you can set your hybrid work plan directly in Slack:
- Open the deskbird app in Slack and go to the Home tab.
- Select your status for each day — for example
office, remote, orhome. - Your schedule is updated instantly and your team can see where you will be working from.
💡 There is no need to switch to the deskbird web or mobile app just to update your weekly plan. Your status can also appear in Slack automatically — see Status sync.
3. See and book from Slack
The deskbird Slack app doesn't just keep you informed — you can view your bookings for the day and make new ones without leaving Slack:
- See the day's bookings — open the deskbird app's Home tab to see all of your bookings for the day at a glance.
- Book a favorite — book one of your favorite resources in a single step.
- Book a suggestion — book a suggested resource directly from Slack.
4. Manage your bookings from Slack
Once you have a booking, you can manage it directly from Slack — no need to open the deskbird web or mobile app:
- Check in — if your company has the check-in feature enabled, you receive a prompt in Slack with a Check in now button when your booking starts. Click it to confirm your presence.
- Finish early — if you leave before your booking ends, you can finish it early to free the resource for your colleagues.
- Cancel — if your plans change, you can cancel a booking directly from Slack.
5. Booking updates and reminders
The deskbird Slack app keeps you informed about your bookings with timely notifications:
- Booking confirmations — whenever a booking is created for you — whether you book it in Slack, in the deskbird web or mobile app, or it is booked on your behalf — you receive a confirmation in Slack.
- Cancellation alerts — if one of your bookings is cancelled, you will be notified in Slack.
- Reminders — the app sends timely reminders before your bookings so you never miss a reservation.
6. Status sync
The deskbird Slack app can keep your Slack status in line with your deskbird status, so colleagues can see where you are working:
- Your manual status is respected — deskbird no longer overwrites a Slack status that you have set yourself. Your own status always takes priority.
- Matching emojis — your Slack status emoji is mapped to the icon library used in deskbird's status settings, so your Slack status matches what you see in deskbird.
- Turn it off anytime — if you would rather manage your Slack status yourself, you can disable Slack status sync in your personal settings.
